Doctor Ambar Konar, a dynamic and promising Interventional Physiatrist of Kolkata, completed his MBBS and housemanship in Rehabilitation Medicine from the prestigious Calcutta National Medical College. He achieved University-topper rank in MD (Physical medicine and Rehabilitation) in 2018 from Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, SSKM Hospital. He completed three years of Senior Residency in Rehabilitation Medicine at North 24 Pargana District Hospital.

Doctor Konar, participating and presenting in number of National and International conferences, has bagged best paper awards in state and national level. There is four paper publications in national level journal in his name.

Dr Konar actively participated in NeuroRehab training program IMPACT III in 2018 at Kokilaben Dhiruvai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. He also completed Fellowship in Pain Management of Aesculup Academy, Germany, from Delhi Pain Management Center in 2019.

Doctor Ambar’s keen interest is in Neuro Rehabilitation, Musculo Skeletal medicine and interventional pain management. Dr Basu Thakur popularly known to everyone as Dr KBT in social media (Facebook) is a dynamic young physiatrist who fulfilled his dream of becoming a doctor from Bankura Sammilani Medical College as he achieved the MBBS degree in 2012. Post graduation degree was achieved in one of the best institutes of the country, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, Manipur. During that tenure he attended multiple hands on workshops on US guided specialized injections, spasticity and pain management.

Doctor KBT has 2 papers in a National journal as the 1st author and many more as Co authors in various international and national journals.

He got his fellowship in pain management from Aesculaps Academy, Germany and Daradia pain clinic in 2021.

After his MD he did his senior residency at the very prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar where he gained experience in Fluroscopy guided and US guided pain interventions, Robotic Neurorehabilitation, Surgical Rehabilitation His special interest includes Stroke rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury rehabilitation, Rheumatological Rehab and Musculoskeletal medicine

Dr. Gourav began his work in the field of Rehabilitation Medicine as a junior resident (post graduate registrar) at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Christian Medical College, Vellore (CMC Vellore), and then continued as a junior consultant at the same institution.

He was involved in comprehensive rehabilitation management including goal setting, medical and surgical management of various Neurological disorders like Stroke, Myelopathy (compressive, Non-compressive), Spinal cord injury, Traumatic brain injury, Peripheral Neuropathy (Guillain barre syndrome), Neuromuscular disorders, Neurodevelopmental disorders (cerebral palsy, meningomyelocele), prosthetic prescription for amputees, offloading methods for ulcer management in Diabetics, Surgical management for pressure ulcers and soft tissue contractures, Urodynamics study and Cystoscopy in the evaluation of Neurogenic bladder, Use of NCV/ EMG in peripheral nerve injuries and carpal tunnel syndrome, radiosynoviorthesis in hemophilic arthopathy. He did his postgraduate thesis on instrumental gait analysis of stroke patients with foot drop using functional electrical stimulation, published in a reputed peer-reviewed journal. After that, he pursued post-doctoral fellowship in Neurological Rehabilitation from NIMHANS, Bangalore. He gathered vast experience in management of disorder of consciousness in traumatic brain injuries/hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy, rehabilitation of Parkinsons, Multiple sclerosis, ALS, Dementia and various complex neurological disorders including chemodenervation with Botulinum toxin or Phenol for spasticity management, robotic exoskeleton based gait training of stroke and people with spinal cord injury.

Dr. Gourav has several papers in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored a book chapter in “Diabetic Foot – A Comprehensive Guide for Clinicians”. His key areas of interest are USG-guided Botulinum toxin or Phenol for spasticity management, neurocognitive robot-aided interventions, 3D-instrumental gait analysis in stroke and cerebral palsy.
